Get Goin’ With The Country Two Step!

Fred Astaire Boise couple dancing in western boots.

Country music is making a comeback, so there’s no better time to dust off your western boots and master the Country Two Step!

This dance style is a staple of country music culture and is the studio member group class at Fred Astaire Boise on March 26.

Did You Know?

Different regions, dance halls, and studios have their own unique takes on this Country Western Dance, also referred to as the Texas Two Step. But whatever variation you learn, this style is danced with a partner and consists of two quick steps and two slow steps.

Growing in popularity throughout the 20th century along with the rise of country music, this fun social dance took on a western tone that sets it apart from the European dances from which it evolved. In fact, the wide stance and heel-toe turns of this dance are believed to be the result of dancing in spurs!

Kick Up Your Heels!
